If you have an interest in color, then you’re familiar with Pantone. Pantone is the world’s authority on color – they make the trends. The 2014 Pantone color of the year is Radiant Orchid, last year’s was Tangerine Tango, before that it was Honeysuckle ( a vivid, almost fuchsia, pink). In fact, all of their color picks for the past many years have been brights. You see them everywhere in home decor, especially in accents and wall colors.
Bright accents were the theme for this staging project in Hampton, Virginia. And, it is so easy to do:
1) Keep all the background colors neutral (walls, floors, furniture)
2) Choose one print or pattern you love – in this case it is the abstract painting over the fireplace but it could be fabric for window treatments or a rug.
3) Make all your accents (pillows, throws, lamps, accessories) match the colors in that one great pattern. Use one of the colors for the majority of your accents and others in minor quantities.
Voila! Instant trendy update.
So, come on Tangerine – let’s Tango!
